Default 1998 1500 ext. cab 5.7 intermittently shuts off

This crazy truck is driving me batty. Will idle all day long. Put in gear and stalls 15 ft. Later. Limped it to shop and he drove it around neighborhood for 15 min. I started back home and stalled multiple times. Crazy thing related. My stereo turns off and looses memory everytime. waited till dark to mess with it. head lights never failed. checked every connection I could find. No engine codes. I'm leaning toward ignition control module. Please help. I love this old truck, 268,000 miles

Does the stereo problem happen at the time it stalls?

You say you've checked connections, I'd suggest electrical cleaner, and pull the connectors apart. Give them a good bath, then re-connect.

Woo Hoo, my baby is happy now. Turned out to be the main cable where it attaches to fuse block under hood. In sulation was melted and wires powdery. Had to cut back about six inches to find clean copper. Thanks for all the input guys.

Thanks for posting the conclusion. So often people do not post if what was posted worked.
