Post 2002 3.8 liter Chevy Impala.

Got a used 48k mile 2002 Grand Prix 3.8 liter motor to replace, the rod through the side of the block one, in an Impala. Engines look exactly the same. Will it fit and what should I do to the 48k mile engine before I put it back in the engine bay? I was told to spray some light oil in the cylinders first and crank motor by hand so all cylinders have reached BDC and TDC to lube it before ignition.
Any thoughts on this endeavor?
