Default 2002 chevy 1500 alternator brown wire

my 2002 silverado has a white and brown wire going into the 105 amp
alternator, i have replaced the alternator and battery, the batt light
keeps coming on and off, the brown wire is intermitent 12volts; i
take it that it turns the alt on when motor is running, can i run an
12v accessory wire to the brown wire on the alt to bypass this short?

thanks

shane

Is the alternator only charing when the 12 volts os there? From what i can see in wiring diagrams, there should be a grey wire, and brown wire. Grey should be to turn the alternator on, and brown tells the pcm to turn the charge light on, on the cluster
