2003 Safari PCM
2003 GMC Safari, 120,000k, Auto. Cranks, but fuel pump doesn't energize, and fuel gauge shows empty when full. Had new fuel pump and filter installed. No change. No spark either, & have not been able to find a wiring fault. New coil, I had checked all fuses and relays, all good, examined all of the wiring harness I could access. After having checked many, many things with different testers by (so-called) mechanics, I think it may be a bad PCM. I've looked online at some venders who sell programmed remanufactured (?) PCM's for around $200. Wading through all the customer reviews, I'm lost. Any recommendations to get a PCM?
what engine?
any codes?
does the dic show the padlock...indicating a theft code...body code which must be read with a full function scan tool. cheap code readers won't do it.
did you check for power to the fuel pump? should have power for 2 seconds at key on.
Is there a crank signal...no crank signal = no spark or injector pulse.

TY for responding. There's only one engine for this, 4.3 liter. As mentioned, Since engine won't fire, cannot get codes. No power to the fuel pump, does not energize (do these even have a neutral switch? Thought all that was taken care of by the PCM). No spark. Not sure about the crank signal. but the engine will crank, but no spark to the coil, thus no spark to the dist.
engine doesn't have to fire to get codes. scan tool should communicate with key on engine off. if the scan tool won't power up, check the cig fuse as this powers pin 16 of the diagnostic connector link. if the dlc has power pin 16 and grd on pin 4 and 5...and the scan tool won't communicate...it may be a module problem.
