2wd conversion to 4wd
Want to kno if any one has ever switched there chevy to 4wd. I have a 92 chevy with 87000 miles I love the truck in awesome shape I need 4wd. I don't want to buy diff truck. This one is my baby taken it through some serious stuff and it's made it through. Is there any place on line I can buy a conversion kit axles suspension the works. Thanks for help

if your going to go to 4x4..i'd do a solid axel swap. the IFS sucks! not sure where u can order a kit tho..might have to google it..im running a lil late for work.

I'm thinking get a 2500 that is wrecked either rollover ir side collision so nothing underneath is damaged
|
well if its a daily driver that will work good..but if its a mudder IFS sucks in the mud lol
|
It will be a farm truck. It will also be driven on road
|
that will work then only thing u need to make sure it has is the front gears and rear gears to be the same or you will destroy your transfercase
|
will every thing bolt directly up or will i have to wed cut and drill the works.
|
probably be some work to it..... since your going from 2wd to 4x4

Hi Texcowboy,
Welcome to the Chevy Forums. I agree with gotsylez, if you're going to go through the trouble to do the 4WD conversion, you may as well get rid of the IFS and put a solid axle up front, too. IFS is a real dog offroad. Just because it's a 2500 doesn't mean it doesn't have IFS. Do a thread search in the truck sections, a lot of 4WD and solid axle conversion info is there. |
Will do. What would be best buy Dana 40 axle and cut It so it fits or buy one pre fitted
