Hi, first time on here, need help with my steering on my 57 Bel Air. I put a 605 steering box in and shortened the steering column, all the things that I was supposed to, put a "rag" joint in between the column and the box. Now, heres the problem. I have some slop in the steering wheel and while trying to get it out I noticed that when I turn the steering wheel to the right till it bumps the 605 box raises up, and when I turn the wheel back to the left till it bumps the 605 box comes back down. It's like the steering column is pushing and pulling the box back and forth. I thought I had it fixed when I retorqued the 605 box to 40 ftlbs but it made no difference. Any ideas. This has got me whipped. Thanks in advance.
