My '97 Cavalier has been diagnosed as needing a new PCM computer. The shop quoted between $400 and $600, plus another $75 to have the new unit flashed. I can buya rebuilt unit for $100 and install, but it will still need flashed. Apparently, only a dealership can do this. The computer fits several different GM models. Could any GM dealer flash this unit, or must it be a Chevy dealer?

Any helpful advice for replacing a computer?

ANY GM dealer will be able to flash it for you, pont, chev, cad....all of them, also some indendant shops may have the ability to flash it if they have purchased that equiptment for it.....
