Default door latch inside door jam goes to lock position

i have a 2004 trailblazer. when i go to close the driver,s side door the latch inside the door goes to the locked position before the door closes. would any one know what the problem might be? i can mess with the door jam to unlock
it to go to the unlocked position.

The problem must be in the latch and replacement is the permanent solution or you can contact 24 hour locksmith expert to help you.

I never dealt with such problems on my own as it's not my cup of tea. So, I prefer to hire a locksmith for that work.

Try cleaning and lubing the latch parts; often just are hanging up from debris. Can clean with WD 40 then apply a light oil after as WD 40 is not a lubricant. I apply small coating of motor oil to all my latch assemblies twice a year.
