Default Injector coding?

Hadn't heard of injector coding until now. Anybody know if you only need to code injectors if your vehicle has an active fuel cutoff or is this a thing for all modern engines?

It's set at the factory.
I've never heard of needing one. Unless you are doing custom tuning or replacing with non-OEM injectors, I don't see why you would need it.

I was looking at some chevy injectors in their parts catalog... it may just be an "in case" thing but a lot of them say "this part needs programming from a dealership" or something along those lines
