Default Lights keep blowing a fuse

My dad has a 1996 Chevy 3/4 ton diesel and the dash lights and tail lights (or maybe it's the brake lights) keep going out. He says that when he changes the fuse the lights work again, but as soon as he starts the pickup the fuse blows out. Any thoughts?

Maybe a bad ground somewhere. Place to start anyway.

Fuses are designed to protect from shorts. You're grounding out somewhere.
