Default Marine Volvo Penta as truck motor

Greetings all! This really isn't a 'model specific' question, although the motor is going in a 1979 Scout with the 350 small block Chevy conversion- which has a shot crank. I picked up a Volvo Penta 350 Chevy, which is the same thing, and I'll be rebuilding it to put in the Scout.

Any tips on what to look for as far as bad parts? This will be the first time I'm doing a rebuild on my own. Not even sure if it needs a full rebuild, looks pretty good on the inside so far, heads look great, lifters look good, looks like it may have had a leak in the head gasket. Pistons and walls look good, so I'm going to open up the crank and see what it looks like.

Any help is appreciated!

thanks!

Stevo
