Default New problem

Just recently bought a 81 caprice classic i replaced the wires and plugs change oil and flushed it. The last three to four days i would cold start it and it would idle really ruff and white smoke will come out of the tail pipe but after about 5 to 8 min it would run fine like it never even happened..... So the map sensor does not work and i just got a new one fixing to put it on later i was wondering if that could be the problem or sum thing bigger any advice will be much helpful

thanks

its could be that ether your one of your head gaskets or intake gaskets is dried up. and when it warms up they swell back up making it seal again. check your plugs if there is any whitish stuff on it or not. then you could do a compression test when its cold and watch if the pressure goes down slowly then it could be your head gasket.
