Hey guys iv read allot of good info on this forum but i cant seem to find an answer to my problem, ok so ill start with some specs of the engine.
Engine: ENGINE IS 383, 4 BOLT BLOCK WITH 3.75 STEEL STROKER CRANK AND MAIN STUDS. WITH RACE SERIES BEARINGS STD STD,RODS ARE FORGED I-BEAM,PISTONS ARE 9.9-1, RINGS ARE MOLY, CAM IS XE268H, NEW CAM BEARINGS,AFTERMARKET 8740 HEAD BOLTS, PUSHRODS FIT BY COMP,TIMING CHAIN DOUBLE ROLLER ,FULL ROLLER ROCKERS 7/16 ROCKER STUD BY 1.6 RATIO, CYLINDER HEADS ARE ALUMINUM 2.02 HEADS BRAND NEW MILD PORT STAGE 1 CASTINGS USING COMP SPRINGS AND 10 DAGREE LOCKS. 2.02 VALVES 1.60 STAINLESS SWIRL POLSIHED AND BACK CUT, HOLLEY 3310-C (750cc), BLUE PRINTED AND BALLANCED.
Ignition System: MSD 6AL-2, MSD 8561 DISTRIBUTER, MSD 8252 HVC COIL, PRO COMP 10.2mm Leads.
Now the problem im having is no spark... i know i know you have all answered this a thousand times but this is different.
So i got it sitting in the 4x4, i got it to TDC of #1 checked all the leads resistance, and they are in the correct order. Wind it over and it wont fire up, whats wierd is i thought ok ill check for spark, went strait to the coil no spark out while cranking (I know that the distributer is sending the signal to the 6AL-2 because there is an LED that blinks on the box) i removed #1 and held the spark plug against the block and there is spark? so i put it back in and went again. Crank crank crank... Nothing i decided to go back to the coil and this is where it got wierd, i removed #3 cylender plug this time and attached the plug to the end of the coil lead going to the distributor, Crank crank crank i only got 1 spark for a full engine cycle? thought thats odd i should be getting 8 sparks? so removed #1 plug, wound it over got 2 sparks for a full engine cycle... though ok ill take all 4 out of that side #1 #3 #5 #7 and wound it over again and im getting 4 sparks now? but if i put anyone of the plugs back in i loose 1 spark for a full cycle?
Please help!
