Default Recommendations on reusing electrical harnesses

Good morning all, New to the forum and am in the initial stages of resto-modding my 1966 Chevrolet C10. Going to put a junkyard LM7 in it for a little bit more pep, but need some advice... what do you seasoned vets think about re-using electrical harnesses for the in-cab and chassis wiring? Most of what I've been able to find online is from companies that want to sell you universal or reproduction harnesses and say it's not a good idea. I inspected the wiring pretty closely and honestly I can't find anything wrong with the insulation for it. Granted, the electrical tape bundling is a bit crackly, but the wiring itself appears to be in pretty good condition. So looking for your advice....spend the $300 or so for a universal harness or try and reuse the existing 60-some year old wiring?
Thanks in advance!

Joel
