Default tips for more power

my 2004 silverado is by no means a slouch in the power department but with new trucks coming with 400+ hp i would love a few more ponys on the cheap not wanting to do forced injection or anything radical. ive heard i can get my local dealer to free up some hidden power with a factory re tune then i could stack my superchips on to of that has anyone heard of this and would you recomend any other mods that dont cost an arm and a leg.. any help is appreciated

Hi silverbirtch71,

Welcome to the Chevy Forums.

Black Bear or Nelsontune. They will tune your PCM and have a good history of power enhancement.

Don't waste your money on a programmer, it won't help, unless you want to read and reset trouble codes, vehicle mechanical parameters, and the like. "Stacking" power enhancements has never worked before. It's not like adding a perfomance cam to a blueprinted intake. You can only get
so much extra performance out of your engine through your computer. Let the expert handle it, and don't try to "improve" his work.

A good CAI,(love my K&N-@260$) and dual exhaust(God only knows how much.) will give great extra power cheap,(of course, this all depends on what you mean by"won't cost an arm and a leg")

but they will also stomp all over your gas mileage.

Be very up front with your programmer. If you go to Black Bear, for instance, tell Randy about any and ALL vehicle mods, if you really want more power. R-R-R!
