Default Trouble seating front hub off 79 4x4

Hey guys, I just took the old brake rotor and hub off of my 79' k5, and I'm now trying to place new ones with all new bearings and grease (with the new dust seal) on it. I've cleaned everything off, packed my new inner bearings in, gently tapped my new dust seal in so it's flush with the inside of the hub, and tried sliding it up onto the (spindle?, part that the bearings ride on). The new hub came with races pre-installed, and look similar to my old ones. I just can't seem to get it up close enough. Am I supposed to have to force it? It seems to lack about an inch and a half or so from being where the old one was at.

I appreciate any help ya'll can give me.
