Default 1965 Impala Info. Please Help!!!

In my impalas vin # there is a D in the middle of the vin. Everywhere I've looked and searched vin #'s and there is never a D in my choices of letters. On the tag in the engine compartment it says Detroit, Michigan. Is that where it was made? Also, on the block there is the engine id # and after the engine id#theD and the last six digits of my vin are stamped. Does this mean that this is the original engine.
I know I probably sound retarded, but I don't know much about cars and I thought someone here could help me out. I really appreciate any help, thanks.

Engine id # is T0406IV then Dxxxxxx and my Vin # is 166375Dxxxxxx the x represent the last 6 numbers of my vin. If anyone can tell me anything I would appreciate it.

heres one of the replies.... hope it helps
D in the VIN is for Doraville GA assembly. Its says Detroit, Michigan because GM is headquartered in Michigan.

Wow, that is sweet. I really appreciate the help rbarrios, thanks for digging alittle bit deeper for me. Now I have another question that will be much harder I'm sure. The car is pretty cherry, some dings and scratches but no major rust. Can anyone tell me about how much I can expect to sell this car for, and also how much extra value does it have with the original engine. 1965 Chevy Impala SS 396

with the original engine- its worth a little more- to the right person.
Take a look at ebay and see what kind of prices the cars like yours are selling for.
If someone by you is looking for a car like yours- then theyll pay.
If not then Ebay is a good alternative since youll have many people looking at the car.
All depends on who is looking for a car like yours and with an original engine- matching numbers.

If you're looking for a real bunch of gear heads on these cars try looking over at www.chevytalk.org.

I found this place by error. ChevyTalk has been around since 1999 and the folks that hang out there are great.

I think I see rbarrios there all the time.
