Default 2000 Chevrolet Impala with P1870 Code

Hey guys,

Was driving my Impala not more than 20 minutes and my Check Engine Light came on. Took it to AutoZone and got a P1870 (Manfacurer Control. Trnsmission).
Does this mean my Transmission is going out? Do I need to rebuild it or get another? Haven't hecked my fluid yet but the transmission over the past week seems to e slipping at tad bit.

I always come back for help here but NEVER get replies to my questions so I always have to take it myself to the dealer to find an answer. Why create a forum for this stuff when there is no one to help.

So did the dealership want to replace the transmission? Did they change the fluid and filter for a complete service? I don't think that the slipping and error code means that the transmissions needs to be replaced but without more into it is hard to make a judgement. Is the fluid dark or smell burnt?

i looked up that code.
has to do with the PCM detecting slipping.
It may also have to do with the valve body- Ive heard there was a redesign of the valve body.
Do a search online for the code- theres alot of info on it.
