Default 2000 imp. puzzled as to why it dies randomly

Hi, thanks in advance for any help you can give. I have had this impala for 5 years and no troubles until several months ago it started dying, and at first it would start back up at once without problems, but it started getting progressively worse, it would die more often and wouldn't start for longer periods of time. It gives no warning, no codes whatsoever, but it seems that if it isn't driven for a couple days, it will drive longer before it dies. Ok, these are the things we have replaced so far. At first, dealer told me it was the fuel pump, so replaced fuel pump, filter, them I had a clever idea and replaced the computer, got it flashed, performed all relearn procedures, oh, after replacing crank sensor, cam position sensor, and fuel pressure regulator, and ignition control module. Neither I nor my brother have any clues as to what the problem is. Fuel pressure remains at 40 psi, and no codes have ever been recorded when it dies.

Your ideas are greatly appreciated!

Thanks

may be a long shot but i had a leaky battery (at the positive terminal for me)....disconnect the cables and see if acid is dripping out the side.....i know its a long shot but its something to try.....do you notice any flickering in the gear selector gauge in the dash when you use something like the hazards, or do you hear a slight whining noise when you accelerate (not the normal whining)......ifyour batter is not leaking then it should be fine

I have a 2003 impala for about 6 months now. Just recenetly my impala started doing the same thing. Also its seems to be misfiring at times. When I accerlerate, it skips, and when I try toaccerlate faster it will skip andthe check engine light will start to blink then turn off. Anybody have any ideas to what this might be?

I have a 2000 Impala and I found the same problem recently also. I was so puzzled because it died without notice and went back randomly. Has someone figured it out? I always drive it for long distance and it really scares me.

look into getting some new wires and plugs,, as that is one of the top 10 things that will cause a missfire

Could possibly be the transponder in the key for the ignition, my wife's grandmother's car and Olds Intrigue would be driving along and die for no reason. A new transponder ring in the ignition solved the problem.

GM's Passlock systemdoesn't use a chip in the key or a transponder ring in the ignition.
