2003 Impala Towing from IL to TX
Hey everyone - I'm new to the forums, but I've done some browsing and I already feel much more informed! A few days from now I'll be moving from my home in Chicago to Texas for grad school and have a few questions to make sure I didn't miss anything, if anyone could help out! So far in prep I've
-Changed the Oil to a synthetic blend (she just rolled over 60K Miles)
-Bought a new set of tires (They were nearing the end of their life anyway)
-Installed the hitch
-and Wiring harness (both with the help of my brother, who is a mechanic)
I've already towed the U-Haul 5x8 Trailer 60% loaded over a 350 mile round trip to get my things from school back to home with no issues whatsoever.
The main items I'm carrying is my motorcycle (400 lbs), queen bed and box spring (80 lbs), other random furniture (200 lbs) and personal effects/clothes (300 lbs total).
My mother and my two cats will be accompanying me on the trip, bringing the total weight of everything in the car and trailer to around 2200 lbs.
If anyone has any tips, some advice on things I should look out for, or anything I may have forgotten in my preparation I would really appreciate it!
Thanks!!
