2004 Impala rearview mirror light does not work
My dad has a 2004 Impala that I am trying to fix a few problems on, the current one being the lights on the rear view mirror do not work. He bought the car in July & a few months ago the lights stopped working, then they started to work again. Well, once again they are not working. All other interior lights work, as does everything else on the car.
I couldn't tell from the owner's manual, but is there a fuse for those lights? I changed the bulbs with some that I know are good but they still don't work. The auto dim still works on the mirror.
I'm new to the Impala line so I'm not sure what to check on it.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance

RE: 2004 Impala rearview mirror light does not work
Do the lights work when the door is opened?
A few things to check. Take the connector off of the mirror, and check for power at pin C, dark blue\white. also check for a good ground on pin B, Black. Then finally check for a good ground on pin A, gray, when the curtesy lights are in the on position.
If all those check out ok, and you've already replaced the bubs with known good ones, then i would say the problem is probably in the mirror itself

Nope, the lights don't come with the door opened either. I'll do what you suggest & unplug the mirror from the connector & check the terminals you mentioned.
I'll update with results

Well, I don't have to test the light connector. My dad got in the car & jiggled the light around & also the connector & the light came on. At this point I don't know whether there is a loose or bad connection or a short in the mirror. If it breaks again I guess I will know then. I will try to unplug it & clean the contacts to see if it helps.

The mirror lights keep on acting up When I notice they are out I touch the plug at the back & they come on for a moment.. Next thing I know they are out again, so I jiggle the harness & it comes on, yet again.. Think it's a problem with the connector but not sure.

pull the connector out and look for pins that have either come loose, or have been "stretched". The female part of the pin may be bent a little causing a poor contact with the make pin. You could try using a pick to bend the contact a little tighter

I have the same problem with our 2004 Impala LS...
The auto-mirror with the green LED and the two down courtesy lights....
I have to jiggle the wire in back to make either work...
SO - it could be....
A - broken wire in the harness/connector
B - wiring connector problem
C - mirror socket connector problem
D - mirror internal problem
I haven't taken the time to attack it yet... not sure which problem to search...
