Default 2005 Impala Passlock Problem

I had a problem that this car would not start at various times and I would have to wait 10 minutes and it would start and run fine this problem kept getting worse. I took it to dealer and they replaced the BCM for $400.00 that very afternoon the same thing happened. I then went on line and thanks to all your information when I returned to the dealer they replaced the sensor and cylinder at no cost we will now see what happens. I must say I am very pleased with Medved Chevrolet in Colorado they have always backed thier products.

Had the same problem with my 03 impala. The sensor on the key cylinder was the culprit. I wish they would have run a recall for this problem that could end in a safety issue. Exemple ( you have to drive someone to the hospital and the car is dead ) For us we were more lucky. We were stuck in a strawberry field after picked up our own berries and the car would not start. It was so upset with this problem that I was ready to scrap the car because of this no nonsense issue. I dont count how many times it happened to us including the time when I filled up the gas tank and the car had to be pushed out of the way for the others that were behind.

My 2005 has recently starting doing this, along with a whole bunch of other things that are going down hill with it.

I have an 05, and have had the same problem. I found, at a chevy forum, that it was in the passlock. Chevy used tin in the connector and the tin will corrode. The fix was easy and cheep; put some DIELECTRIC grease on the contact. I have not had the problem since, and it's been about 4 months. It was a bit difficult to take the lower part of the dash apart but the total was about $4. Now all I have to do is figure out why my gauges won't work.
