Default Help me pick my next car

Hi everyone, I am brand new to the forum. My wife has tasked me with finding a bigger car before our second child arrives in the fall and (even though she wanted an SUV) we have come to a compromise and decided we'll buy a large sedan. We'll be buying used (preferably certified) and the current front runners are the Chevy Impala and the VW Passat. Primarily I'm looking at models from 2014-2016. My question is whether the Impala is 1) a solid, reliable car that i can expect to get many years out of (with proper maintenance) 2) worth the cost premium over the Passat. The biggest thing working in the Impala's favor is the V6 engine and the impression that it's pretty reliable. So as Impala owners, what are your thoughts? Is it a no-brainer?

thanks!

I'd recommend going to impalaforums.com
Look for 9th genration... You find owners who talk about pros and cons of their Impala.
For example, LT version owners are not happy with the headlights and there are threads dealing with how they changed
them.
