348 to a 427
I have a 1959 Impala 2-door HT with an original 348 W series. Unfortunately, the 348 was to "fatigued" to continue and coughed its last breaths.
I am replacing it with a 427 stroker. So... my query is, will a 427 bolt directly into the cavernous opening of the 1959 Impala? Or are there differences I need to be aware of prior to attempting the installation.
I have been looking for dimensions of each engine in order to try to figure out the space needed to place this brute of an engine in the 'hole.'
Any suggestions or advice is welcome.
Thank you,
Hervey

Thanks for the suggestion. I didn't provide enough information. There are 7 cracks in the block. Smallest being 1-1/2", longest is 4". It was condemned so my numbers matching is out the window. Hence the decision to drop the 427 in its place.
