Default Airbag light

I have a 2009 Chevy Impala and the service airbag light comes on and off intermittenly. It may come on for a few days and go off for a few days. Could someone shed some light on this?

the sdm or airbag module performs a state of health check on start up and continuously when the vehicle is running. If it detects a fault the airbag light will come on. On the next start up, if the system passes the soh check, the airbag light will turn off. You have an intermittent fault. the fault code will be stored in history even after the soh check passes and the light turns off. get the code read is the first diagnostic step.
Anytime the airbag light is on...the airbag system is disabled; if you get into a accident...they will not deploy.

not much you can do to diagnose most airbag faults without special equipment...dealer only for the most part. If the fault is a bad impact sensor...you could change that...anything else, leave for a professional.
