Unhappy Anti theft alarm not working?

Hello everyone, I'm new to this forum. So I recently bought an 08 impala , and I just realized that the anti theft alarm system does not work. If I roll the window down and lock the doors with the keyless remote , and then open the door they the window shouldn't the alarm go off? Does anyone have this problem or any suggestions to what the problem is and or how to fix this problem? Thanks rob!

How do I know if I have the anti-theft alarm? The indicator light is on the dash, and it does test itself every time the vehicle starts. But, how do I know it is working when I lock my vehicle? My vehicle is an '08 Impala LT w/1LT.

David, I looked through your owners manual for the warning lights and the section for the theft deterent system but was unable to find any information on an indicator light for the vehicle that would show that the vehicle is locked and the alarm system is active. I would suggest possibly speaking with your dealership about this to see if they might have more information or experience with this system to be able to tell you what to look for to see that the system is active.

The Security indicator should blink every few seconds once the content theft alarm is armed. In order to test, do what the OP did, i.e., roll down the window (so you can unlock the door manually), lock the doors with the key fob, reach in and pull up the manual lock ****, and then open the door. Unlock the doors with the key fob to cancel the triggered alarm.

My security light does not flash. The only time it lights up is when I start the car to test the bulb.

So, you weren't able to trigger the alarm in the way I described? Do you have a factory key fob and not some aftermarket remote start key fob?

I have the factory remote key fob with the remote start feature. No dice.
