now have 2 Impalas
We gave the 2000 LS with 3.8L to our son and his family, only 82K miles, only $1200 in repairs since buying it new, consisting of tie rod ends, heater core, ignition switch, and a power window motor. I won't count the front and rear brakes, that is expected. I replaced the hoses, had the tranny service/flushed, and radiator flushed, routine oil changes, etc. and that is all. I suppose the struts/shocks could be ready by now, but as long as the tires aren't wearing funny, that can wait.
We have gotten as much as 37 mpg with it at 60 mph, as low as 32 doing a lot of 75 mph.
We liked it so much, we got a 2011 LT (last month) with the luxury option, and regular 3.5 engine....and just took a trip with it. I like the 3.8 motor better, but the new one has heated leather seats so the wife is happy.
We also still have our 2002 silverado, 125K miles and a few dings, but still running strong.
Got to admit, I was a Dodge/Chrysler guy for years before buying the first Impala, but those days are gone.
