Hello! I am brand new here and I am in quite a fix (no pun intended)

I have a 2002 Impala with about 205,000 miles on it. I have kept up my car pretty well I think. About 2 weeks ago I got a transmission flush and a new fuel filter. My brake pads (all of them) needed changing, so I purchased a all for sets and a serpentine belt and an air filter to boot. I was looking forward to a bit of easy greasy work and then all of a sudden my car wouldn't start! It was rough starting for about a week (like it took a lot to turn it over) , so I figured it was my battery going. Got a new battery installed and then BAM, wouldn't start again! I talked to the local advance auto guy and while I was trying to start it he said that it was the starter. So, I went and bought a starter, and replaced it yesterday.

After installation (took me forever by the way, in 18 degree weather outside) the car started, sounded a little rough so I turned it off and started again. Started right up! So this morning I was hoping in my car to grab a paper and the car won't start at all! I can hear a whirring noise (I assume the starter gear) but nothing is happening. Full power from NEW battery.

I can't afford to guess anymore and I really can't afford to take it in and have somebody else work on it. Are there any ideas? Please

Did you tighten the battery cables? You probably have ragged cables and when you put the starter in the car the engine is pulling the cables off the battery post. Go and grab on the negative battery cable and wiggle it a bit. And then see if you can restart it. $10 negative battery cable may be your friend.
