My 2007 impala had steering shaft noise after the first month that i got it , a knock noise when turning , the shaft was replaced 3 times , still makes noise . at the beginning of all 3 times that it was replaceds it was fine but after a couple of days the sound came back and it getts loader and loader , now its almost a bang .
can some one tell me whats going on????? now they tell me that they have ordered an updated shaft and it would take 5 days to be ready . I have waited 40 days and its not ready yet. any way when its instaled on my car is it realy going to solve the problem or are the mechanics missing something here , I think they are .Why does the sound gradually come back is it slowly missing lubrication and getts dirty . I dont know please help me .I live in toronto canada .im jim

 

I have the same issue with my 2000 Impala. Actually just came from the chevy dealership and was told by them that GM has finally come out with the new steering shaft that will finally eliminate the clunking issue. So, you will no longer have to use a lube kit.

I don't know why you have been waiting that long for yours. My dealership actually has them in stock.
