Default 2007 Impala throttle problems

Intermittent problem when I step on the gas nothing happens for a few seconds then the car lunges forward. It does not do it all the time. May do several times in a row then maybe not for weeks. Dealer says "When it does it bring it by". What part of intermittent do they not get?
Is this a firewire issue? I see may things on the site about throttle body but not the same problem I am having. Ideas are greatlly appreciated!

Default 2008 Malibu throttle body

Sounds familiar!! I need help as well for my 2008 Malibu Cklassic!
After driving this car happily and putting 140,000 mile on it- engine light came on and error code was for the throttle body so we had to have the throttle body replaced in order to pass the smog test. That’s when things drastically changed re: this great commuter car- the MPG rate has dropped suddenly from 30 MPG to 19 MPG!!! This is part traffic and part freeway driving – our trip 3 weeks ago of 85% highway was 33 MPG. If I am very careful about accelerating, maybe I can get 22 mpg. When starting the car- the engine now races like crazy and settles at 750 RPM after warming up a bit – but will accelerate and move to 1200 RPM by itself. The car was brought back to the mechanic who cleared the computer and reset – for the second time…the idle moved from 900 RPM down to 750 RPM with no significant MPG change. HOW could this be!!!Is the part defective?Am I going to have to unload this car to afford my commute now? Please help…I really do like the car.
