Default Valve stem cap

So I get a nail in my tire,I removed the tire from my Impala
and take it to the closest tire store where to my surprise they fix it for free in a bid to get my futurebusiness? Get the tire back home,
now I see exposed brass on the valve stem.
Not wanting to go back and complain after they did the free fix I went to the Chevy dealer to get a new full lenght cap.
My luck of course, thepartsguy has never seen anything but the
standard short valve cap.
After 15 minutes of running around the dealership he then asked me if I have tire pressure monitoring. Turns out thesevalve stems are longer.A new capis on order. Point is,after all these years even the valve caps are different now.

yes.
the impalas with the air pressure monitoring system have different valve stemps becuase the pressure monitor is mounted inside the rim....
like you found out- the cap is longer....... not the standart little ones.

Default RE: Valve stem cap

My 07 Tahoe has the old style silver stems and one new style, black, stem (replacement for bad TPMS). I usually put a chrome cap on my stems butI cannot find a cap for the new black style. The thread area is a lot longer on the newest TPMS
