1990 silverado-no oil pressure-help?
HI-IM NEW HEAR--GREETINGS-----I HAVE A 90 FULL SIZE BLAZER WITH A 5.7 ENGINE.--IM THE ORIGINAL OWNER AND TOOK GOOD CARE OF THIS TRUCK. I RECENTLY HAVE A PROBLEM WITH NO OIL PRESSURE. I CHANGED THE OIL PUMP AND STILL NOTHING--THE OIL GUAGE IS ON ZERO--AND NO OIL IS PUMPING TO THE TOP OF THE ENGINE----IM STUMPED-----WHAT ELSE COULD BE CAUSING THIS PROBLEM?---ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY BE APPRECIATED:confused:

if the pump is good, and actually being driven by distributor as it should be, then you might have sludge or something built up inside the oil runners. did you use a new pump pickup screen? did you use a brand new pump? is there enough oil?

no oil pressure
hi-thanks for the reply---yes everything is new---is there some possibility that the distributer is not turning the oil shaft--is that possible

if the pump wasnt turning, u would know, the engine would ba makin horendous noises when running, if it makes loud deep knocking then the oil pump isnt turning, if it is clacking kind of like a deisel, it is turning, but there is a blockage in the oil passages (the noise is the lifters) that can be helped by running a detergent trans fluid for 5 min b4 your nxt oil change (type f) if it makes no noise then i would suggest the oil pressure sending unit on the top of the engin behind the intake manifold is buggered, after that, the guage
