06 Malibu Door Ajar
I recently had my battery changed and after I got my car back the door ajar signal was on. I took it back to the shop where I got the battery and they told me that it was probably a switch. Here is my problem with that, how does the switch go out right after the battery was changed. I truly believe that it has something to do with the battery being changed and that its a computer problem not the switch. Can anyone help, this create a lot of annoyances. I can not lock my doors while driving, I can not have the radio on or use the windows without the car being fully started and of course I constantly have to look at that door ajar light. Thank you.

Welcome to the forum. The door ajar switches are integrated into the power door latch assemblies. The BCM supplies the signal voltage and detects a particular door being open when the door ajar switch closes and shunts the signal voltage to ground. If the shop has a Tech 2 scan tool or equivalent, they can query the BCM and read out which door is permanently open. As to your theory, I'm having a hard time coming up with a scenario in which the battery replacement precipitates an electrical problem that only affects the door ajar switch circuits.

I am sorry to hear that you’re having issues with your vehicle. I would advise you to take your vehicle to your local Chevrolet dealership to confirm the issue with your door being ajar. Please keep me updated.
Thank you!
