the customer service reps can only follow the policies set up by general motors.
As your having it done by the dealer, keep your receipts. If a recall is issued for this problem for your car, you may be eligible for reimbursement.

So I have the 3.5 Liter 2007 Malibu LT. V6 it's at 131,569 miles. I just lost my power steering to. The steering wheel will shake when it first turns on then the power steering motor dies or the car will just start up with the power steering motor already dead. When will we have our recall for a power steering. When you talk to the GM dealership they refused to even talk to you about it

Default same power steering issue

i also have an 07 chevy malibu LS 2.2L about 135,500 miles. have been having this issue intermittently over the past year or so. at first i thought it was because my car was cold (i live in alaska) but in the past month its started to get MUCH WORSE. now my steering will go out 8-10 times a day. while im driving down the road parked or otherwise. its the only vehicle i have and i find myself pulling over fairly regularly to restart my car only for it to go out in 3-5 minutes if not immediately. this issue isnt a recall as i have already talked with GM. but it needs to be

Default same power steering issue

I'm in the same boat csims. Just had my steering go out like 3 or 4 times just on my way home from work and had to keep restarting. They recalled every car except ours! I guess they are looking to pay off my folks a big settlement after I die in this death trap! Thanks GM! For Nothing!

I have a 2007 malibu the dealership is saying that it isn't covered because i have over 150000 miles on my vehicle my question is why aren't all recalls covered regardless of the miles

call the dealer and check if the powersteering motor recall involves your vehicle.

they don't issue recalls for everything that breaks. the car is 6 years off warranty and 115 000 miles past factory warranty. this you will have to fix yourself.

If a recall is ever issued, save your receipts for re-imbursement.

Parts wear out after mileage has been put on them. Parts are made with a general life expectancy in mind based on past usage of the parts. After that life expectancy has passed, like 150,000 miles for example, a dealer will question whether the part is faulty because it was made that way, or because the excessive miles made it that way.
