2002 malibu 3.1 v6 with 290, 000 kms. A/c.
Changed thermostat because of no heat from the vents, changed the water pump because of squeeling noise. the symptoms are no heat in the car and squeeling from the engine. The hoses going to the heatercore are cold. Filled the overflow and it spits it out with the overflow cap. If you leave the cap off it doesnt spit it out. Bleed off the system through the bleed screw still squeeling. New belt. Took the belt off and it still squeels (eliminated anything being ran by the serpentine system) Thought it was the water pump but with nothimg running accessory wise its still squeeling. Sounds like its right behind the water pump or power steering pump. It happens at about 1800 rpms and gets more pronounced if the engine is under load. More rpm = louder. It does not follow any shifting patterns but follows engine rpm and load. Wind buffs make the squeeling louder but the rpms dont move much. The sound is higher pitched than a belt squeel. Almost tea kettle but not that loud and no sound at idle.
