Default 1998 automatic chev lumina

Recently, we've noticed the gear shift is harder to move from Park to another gear. Probably not related but we noticed this a day or so after we had the brakes fixed. What should I do to resolve this issue?
I've had the vehicle since 2000 and love it with very few problems. We park on level ground on a paved driveway. It's always been a very smooth change until recently. It will change but it's definitely harder to pull the gear shift from Park to another gear and back.
