06 silverado gas filing gets difficult
Michael here, I have the Silverado almost two years. Been to different fill-up stations. Also returned to several of them. Now, all of a sudden, the pump nozzle wants to disengage every three seconds or so. Bewildered, surprised, flabbergasted. My vehicle is rarely parked away from the farm house. So mischief is not the reason. Why can't I just simply put gas in the tank? How could some insect crawl into the air exhaust vent inside the cap? Which is the only explanation I can think of. Fill hose smaller diameter than my 1984 C10 which doesn't help.
After posting earlier today because I couldn't find any plausible explanation on your site I spoke to a local garage man. He recently was confronted with said problem and it was a "$100+ sensor replacement in the filler neck" fix. The new sensors are frequently defective. Bypassing causes a dash warning light, if it is not on already, as is in my case and will probably initiate a message in the display as well. I'll rip it out if I can!! How I loved my simple '84 pick-up.
