Evening or morning/afternoon depending on your time zone
Just saying Hi from the other side of the pond.
I'm Alex the proud new owner on a '72 Nova fitted with a...
396 BB, Holley 4Barrel 750cfm carb, RPM Air Gap intake manifold and
Hooker Competition headers amongst a few others. She roughly in the region on 400-450 bhp although not dyno tested.
Unfortunately after 4 days of owning her she tried to kill me.
The throttle cable got stuck at about 70mph on the motorway (highway to you guys!) by adjusting the cable tension I managed to get her going again only for her to develop a misfire. She’s currently in the workshop being bought back to life, where the guy working on it for me has found a closed spark plug which I’m aware could be numerous things. Fingers crossed it’s as simple as an incorrect plug although I fear the worst (pistons hit it) along with that the distributor had play in it (not fasten in place) so I believe a slight movement has thrown the timing out which would explain the misfire.
It’s all very unfortunate by hey, these things happen. The engine is only has only 7000miles from its rebuild too!
Anyway, I'll stop going on about the problems now, but I'll keep you all posted with the progress.
Even when she was sitting there all battered and bruised I still loved her. I guess this is just a harsh introduction to old American motoring (coming from a 2007 Ford Focus ST500)
I look forward to talking to you all.
Alex
P.S here's a pic...
