Default Backfire when accelerating 89 Chevy 1500

Ive done plugs/wires
Dist. Cap
Egr valve
Fuel pressure Regulator
fuel filter to pump and even a new tank and still having lack of power and no load acceleration.
Back at square one to what I thought could fix this issue. I’m stumped. Any input on what I should check/do next?
Much thanks

Check compression in each cylinder. Might be a bad/old, carbon-coked, or even a burned valve. Might be time to use Seafoam or Techron down the intake before you do that. It might clean up a dirty valve, but it won't repair a burned valve.
