Default GMT400 K2500 Suburban owner in CA

Greetings from snow-covered Running Springs, California. I'm in the process of buying an older Suburban, so I'll be a Chevy owner again. Turning 60 and soon to be retired, I'm not a fanboi of any make, but did come from a primarily GM family. Took my driving test in a 1965 Impala.

Chevys owned in the past:
1957 "210" 2-door sedan
1971 C10 short bed
1993 C1500 short bed W/T, purchased new

Current family fleet includes:
1969 VW Karmann Ghia
1974 VW Thing
2005 Toyota Tundra 4wd Work Truck (which the Suburban will replace)
2010 Honda Fit

The new (to me) Suburban is a 1998 or 1999 (forget at the moment) K2500 "fleet" model in "government green" with 3 rows of grey cloth seats, black rubber floors, van-type rear doors, 5.7 gas engine, manual 4x4 and dual A/C.

I forgot to mention the other Chevy in the hangar. I'm converting a 1967 Corvair engine for experimental aircraft use.

My brother also owns an unusual Chevy, a dual fuel CNG/gasoline Cavalier. Compressed Natural Gas, not Propane, is about half the price of gasoline in California.

Default Now its a 2000 K2500 Pickup

Just an update to the family fleet. The Suburban deal never happened.

Forward 2.5 years. Just got an ex California government K2500 regular cab long bed pickup in Frigidaire white. 151,000 miles and it runs perfectly. Everything works except the cigarette lighter. California puts a booklet in the glovebox of a new vehicle and records all maintenance and repairs, just like I have always done.

2005 Tundra was sold, quickly, because they are highly desirable here in CA. It never gave me any problems, but the slide-in camper maxed it out, hence the 2500 this time. Gas mileage will be the main sacrifice, but the Chevy has the 350, not 454, and 3.73 highway gearing. In similar duty, the difference is about 2 mpg. The Honda is the main daily driver anyway.
