New to the forum and got myself a new Impala
Hello,
I was just finishing registration on the Chevy site for the owner section and access to the info about my car and saw this forum as a suggested link. I figured it wouldn't be a bad idea to check this place out.
Bought myself a 2014 Impala 2LTZ last Monday and am pretty stoked about it. I've only been driving for 5 years or so and have owned two cars prior, a '99 Contour and '99 Malibu. Both of those were in terrible shape. I have been out of the country for work for a year and my wife was telling me about problems with the Malibu and I decided I wanted to buy something new, something reliable that I wouldn't have to worry about stranding her and my daughter on the side of the road somewhere while I was 4K miles away. I did quite a bit of research and settled on the new Impala. I have always loved Impalas (my dream car is a '68 Impala sedan) and at first didn't care for parts of the new Impala, but I was sold as soon as I test drove it.
I got pretty much everything I wanted on it. I did want 20s but they were having difficulty tracking one down with the trim, options, and color I wanted that also had 20s. So I settled for the 19s. I also wanted the Blue Topaz color but my wife said it was too flashy and I settled on the Blue Ray (which is gorgeous). Got a pretty good deal on it and hope to have it paid off in three years or so.
My knowledge about cars is very limited and I have never been a big fan of driving period; the combination of terrible drivers where I have been living that are always keeping my on edge and the pain I get in my knees and legs from even short drives has always made me hate the act of driving. But this car is so nice. I am happy to be able to drive something modern with newer features, a 21st century car. I am also pretty excited about having something this new that I can take care off. I am looking forward to keeping up on maintenance and having a fresh-slate with this. Sinking money into the last two cars definitely sucked.
The only thing that bums me out is that I took possession of the vehicle mid-day last Monday and then left the country two days later on Wednesday. I'll be gone for seven months or so. I miss the car already, I was only able to put ~200 miles on it before leaving. My wife is going to take pretty good care of it while I am gone though.
Ummm, about myself I guess. Did an enlistment in the military and got out last year. I am currently working on a base in the arctic circle and am having an okay enough time up here in spite of how much I miss my family. I work 12 hours a day and my limited free time is spent seeking out new music, watching movies, and playing games.
Can't think of too much else to say. I plan to lurk this forum though and learn some stuff and hopefully at a later date contribute something beneficial back.
