Default New Here! Why should I switch from Ford?

Long story short, I need a HD truck and as a lifelong ford guy, I'm skeptical about making the switch. I am trying to decide between a GMC 2500 and a Silverado 2500... what's the difference?

Below is the build I'm interested in, it has the gas engine. Nothing fancy, I just want something dependable!!! Will this get me through the next 10+ years?

Welcome from Florida. Yes, it will get you through the next 10 years plus, if you take care of it like with any vehicle. I just bought one without the DFM since they are having all the problems with the lifters. I think that would be the best choice. You must not be totally happy with Ford since you are looking at Chevrolet.

I still like ford, but an F250 will run me close to 52k. I get a supplier discount through my work, so its tempting me lol.

I've only had one Ford, a 1986 5.0 liter F-I Mustang. Drivers seat started falling apart fast, and the ignition would cut-out and take 20 minutes to restart. (Literally Found On Road, Dead) Its been GM/Chevrolet's for me ever since then. I wont be a Ford owner ever again.

The Ford distributors sucked too. Had one on my old 70's Jeep CJ-5. Dumped it for a Presto-lite that could take on water and keep on running. The 258 I-6 mill, stock Ford distributor couldn't do that in a million years. Got a 2015 Chevrolet Malibu 2.5 liter mill that will push 45-50 MPG now. I am keeping that terrific Chevy Malibu until the wheels fall off or I croak.
