Small block 350 interchange parts
Hey guys I just joined and I'm looking for some info/tips and tricks.
I've been working on swapping a 350 into my toyota pickup for a little while now, bought a 2 bolt main 350 and started tearing it down for a rebuild only to find the side of the block was cracked. Found a second 350 and it turned out to be a 4 bolt main not another 2 bolt, and that one threw a rod and messed up the crank, and also broke the front off of the cam.
I already have an extra cam and lifters bought and timing chain kit also sitting in a box as well as new bearings for the whole bottom end, but I'm wondering what I can take from the 2 bolt bottom end to save the 4 bolt block. The main things I will need are the crank and two pistons/connecting rods.

This is the 4 bolt main that threw a rod.
The cracks in the side of the 2 bolt main

Welcome to the forum. Since this is the welcome new members section of the forum, you will get more views if you post your question in the technical section of the forum. That being said, I'm not sure there are any differences between the two and four bolt main blocks. HP Books puts out one titled How to Rebuild a Small Block which has a boatload of information in it.

Bummer about the engine troubles. You could probably salvage the crank and pistons/connecting rods from the 2 bolt main for the 4 bolt block. Just make sure they're compatible and in good shape.
