About to buy a 1949 3100. Advice on what I should look for?

Welcome from Florida. Rust is usually the big problem with these trucks. They make patch panels for the cab. Check the frame for bad rust! Mechanical parts are pretty easy to get, so that should not be a big problem. Does it run?

Default 6 volt to 12 volt conversion

How do people feel about keeping the 6 volt system. I see many have converted. How much is it to convert both $ and time?

I converted my 1949 Fleetline Deluxe. You will need an alternator, battery, coil, a step voltage for the gas gauge and all of the lightbulbs. The cost will depend on what kind of deals you can find for the parts and if you do the work there is no labor charge. Easy to do and you don't have to change the starter.
