1990 k2500 fuel pump issue?

I have a 1990 k2500 with a 350 tbi motor. Recently I have noticed that in the mornings, sometimes the truck doesnt want to start. But some mornings it will just start right up no problem even if its 2 degrees outside. But sometimes It will crank and crank and crank. Its happened twice in the last 4 days. When it does happen and I turn the key to the on position, i wont hear the fuel pump cycling which is strange, and then the only way to get it to start is to give it full throttle and crank, then it will spit and sputter and finally start up. After it starts up it runs fine all day no problem. I did my whole plow route no problem. I feel like if it was the fuel pump going bad I would be having some driveability issues. Any insight would be appreciated.

The fuel pump could be good but the check valve in the pump assembly could be going bad. This allows the fuel to drain back into the tank causing long cranking times before it starts.
