1999 s-10 rear brake line
I'm sure you all know it well. tucked right on top of the frame rail, in behind the gas tank, mixed amoung the fuel lines........there is a leak. I have gotten the runaround from napa. I am told the s-10 uses a metric thread on the brake line fittings. and the only 1/4 inch line napa sells has a us threaded end. so I have decided to got to the dealer. My question is are they going to sell me line that is pre-bent to the same shape as my old one? I plan on going from front to back, just like factory. what do you guys and gals think? any tips or tricks when doing this job?
Thanks
Matt

Not really any tips. The S10 does have a metric thread, so be sure to get the correct fitting. It should be similar in shape and pre-bent like the original.

Buy the 1/4 inch line from napa, maybe a connector if you need 2 lines. cut the old line off where you can. Don't try to pull it out of its holder or you may disturb the fuel lines and have a real headache on your hands.
Re-use the metric line ends. If they are all rusted, put them in a vise, cut the old line flush with the top of the nut, drill it out with a 1/4" bit, and take it to the wire wheel. Cut one end off the new line, put on the old nut,(make sure it is right way), and just flare the end of the line to match what you took off. If you don't have a flaring tool, take it to your local shop and have them do it for $10-20.
This is the easiest and cheapest way to do this. Well i guess buy a metric line would be easier, but this is really not that much work
