My mechanic noticed that the fuel tank on my '02 S10 Crew Cab is close to rusting out, and recommended replacing it. However, he has not been able to locate a new or used fuel tank for my truck. Apparently the '02 Crew Cab model uses a unique fuel tank, that is no longer available from GM, and he also can't find an aftermarket fuel tank.

Does anyone know of a source for a fuel tank for my truck? I guess that my other option would be have the existing fuel tank sand blasted and then repair any weak spots, but I don't really like that alternative. Any other ideas will be appreciated.

I have an 01 crew cab with the same issue. I found mine,when replacing the fuel neck. My tank looks pretty clean aside from about a thumb size rot hole where the metal tank neck connects w/ the fill tube.
I have not found any aftermarket options. So basically I have a vehicle that ive put a few grand into a vehicle after purchasing it for to damn much.Now im stuck thanks chevrolet! There are a ton of issues w/these crew cabs,unfortunately with something like this,you are kind of forced to deal with it,dump it, or probably trade it in as I don't want to screw over an unsuspecting fool like myself. Who would have thought you could'nt get a tank for a vehicle that was nine yrs old when i bought it.
