new spider assembly better still no start

I had a no start with 62-64psi at the rail. Cranks fine and runs on starter fluid.
Yesterday I replaced the spider with the upgrade assembly. The process seemed to go fine. The engine even seemed like it wanted to fire up.
I saw some light smoke on top of the engine.
I am going to remove the plenum again. Hopefully I just need to seat an injector.
Any thoughts on the issue? There is definitely more activity when I crank it, like a sputter. Just very short lived.
