126,000 mile plugs, transmission temp bung
The "new" great shape, in and out, '94 Suburban I just bought didn't pull my trailer very well, it really struggled even to get up little freeway hills. So I thought it might need a tune up. Pulled the plugs, wires and cap and it appears that this is all original equipment dating from 1994, 126,000 miles later. The plug bodies are rusted, the gap is a lot bigger than .035 and the coil connector on the cap was rusted and corroded so bad I can't see how it was making contact. The wires were AC Delco and in perfect alignment with the little plastic looms and they had never been off. The difference in power with the new components is amazing, a huge difference. I couldn't even get it to shift down into second once it shifted into 3rd no matter how hard I punched the pedal. Anybody ever heard of plugs, wire & cap & rotor lasting 22 years and 126,000 miles?
Even tho this Burb has the tow package with oil cooler, transcooler, hitch, wiring etc., I want to add a trans temp gage. Are there any threaded holes or bungs in the transmission body of the 4L60E trans for a sending unit? Hate to pull the pan to install a bung or try to put a sending unit in the fluid lines.

the 1999 and newer build have this. I bet yours does to as you say its an "E" Electronically controlled trans. If the 2500 clusters of the same year have a temp gauge; I wonder If you could just swap a used cluster and have it programmed?

I widened the plug gap from .035 to .045 and it runs even better, I'm so happy!
Because the left turn signal doesn't cancel, I bought a "loud" flasher, but can't find where it plugs in????
