Default Engine light on

I have a 2012 LT. I changed the oil and filter, and out of nowhere an engine light came on. It had a rough idle. It shortly died. I thought i may have bumped into something when taking the filter off. I fiddled around with all plugs that is around the filter. Nothing looked off. I started it again. This time the light went away. The next day the came back. It doesnt die, but the milage is reduced. I had codes pulled and they are the following: p06wf internal control module EEPROM error, p0420 catalyst system low efficiency bank 1. I dont understand. It never had and engine light before, but as soon as i changed the oil and filter it came on? I must have something. Any help?

Thank you

Internal control module EEPROM error can be set when bat voltage to ECM is low.
Start with bat itself, terminals/connectors clean/ tight outside/inside?
Bat ground connection clean/tight?
Bat v normal/charging ok?

If all above normal then verify voltage/grounds good on ECM.

Sorry it took a while. I had the battery tested. It was bad. No light, and i understand because the battery was dissconnected. The range seems to be a bit better. It does fluctuate a bit. Will it take time for the ecu to get itself together? Also its 32° here. And my idle is around 500. Is that a normal idle rpm? If not, what is a normal idle? Thank you, and happy Thanksgiving!

500 RPM is low should be around 700 RPM.
Any error codes?
Every had TB service?

"Will it take time for the ecu to get itself together?"
How many trips have you made since battery was changed?
Believe idle should normalized after a few trips.

What is tb? Well i got the battery before work and work is a few miles away. I see the rpm is fluctuating slightly and i feel it a bit too. The range is still going down a little faster than it was. No engine light. And the range also moves up and down

Throttle Body( TB) .
No more error codes so that's an improvement.
Normal for RPM idle to registers around 1500 RPM at cold start and gradually decrease to around 700 RPM at normal operating temp.

TB cleaning could smooth out the idle a bit as could other maintenance/cleaning items such as spark plugs/MAF sensor/PCV.
